The Saint Joseph County Fair is getting ready for thousands of people to stroll through the gates this week.
Our own Tricia Sloma helped kick off this year's events.
Hundreds were on hand to welcome the fair that has been going on for more than 80 years.
The opening ceremonies took place today complete with a parade into the grandstand.
The rides, exhibits, and of course food vendors do not fully open until tomorrow.
Mark Tingle, Fair Board Vice President says, “What the fair is all about in my eyes is the children. We are one of Indiana’s largest 4h fairs; we have more than 22 thousand exhibits on display that are actually out on the fairgrounds.”
Tingle says this year; he's most looking forward to a huge military simulator.
