The 30th Annual World Championship Rodeo is this weekend at the St. Joseph County fairgrounds.
World class riders and ropers are in town for the event, which raises money for the St. Joe County Sheriff's "posse," otherwise known as the mounted police.
Those that work in the touring rodeo business say the event has quite a reputation.
"It's so good, you know, I'm excited. Last night's rodeo was just phenomenal. I mean, South Bend, Indiana - you hear about the rodeo all over the country," says rodeo clown Mike Wentworth.
The rodeo began Friday night with crowds estimated in the thousands.
Competitions continue at 7 o’clock tonight and 6 o’clock on Sunday.
Organizers say the event is the only fundraiser for the 21-man mounted police force, which is not funded in any way by the county police.
