There is no question, we all want to look and feel healthy but exercise can be too much of a good thing.
Motivation turned into compulsion for Valerie Gustin who was an athlete most her life, because Valerie became obsessed with losing weight.
For years, she sacrificed work and being with friends and family to exercise.
Her addiction and eating disorder cost her a pregnancy and almost her life.
Dr. Edward Cumella of Remuda Ranch, AZ says, “It’s very important for people to realize that over-exercising causes medical complications, and if you are doing it for a very long time you can even die from it.”
Signs of addiction include; exercising more than five times a week for more than one hour at a time.
In addition to calculating how much time to exercise based on how much food you eat and feeling guilty when missing workouts and exercising when you are sick or hurt.
Bone loss, heart failure and scoliosis are just some of the complications from over exercising.
Fortunately, Valerie went to a treatment center and got over her addiction.
