Meth Lab Explodes in Elkhart

One man is hospitalized with severe burns after a Meth lab explodes in an Elkhart neighborhood.

Elkhart county police tell us that it all happened this afternoon on Modrell Avenue near Adams Street when a Meth lab was in operation at the time of the explosion.

One man, who has not been identified, was severely burned and rushed to the hospital.

Neighbors say they are shocked someone would operate a Meth lab with so many kids in the neighborhood.

Tasha Franklin who lives near the Meth Lab says after hearing a loud bang she rushed outside to see what was going on, and then became worried about the kids nearby getting off of a school bus.

“I’m just kind of disappointed that they would do that with kids, I mean so close, kids next door, there's kids all over down there, it's upsetting,” says Franklin.

Indiana State Police have secured a search warrant to search the home.
