Police investigate an Elkhart shooting that occured Sunday morning.
At this hour a shooting that involved an Elkhart police officer remains under investigation.
Police say 31-year-old Gerald "Joe" Cooley of South Bend was shot at a home on West Jefferson in Elkhart early Sunday morning.
Police say officer Mike Davis shot Cooley after police responded to a domestic disturbance at the home.
Cooley died at the hospital.
Davis is on paid leave, which is standard procedure, while the investigation continues.
