It's one of the most notorious murder cases in Michiana and the case is now closed. Jeff Pelley will remain in prison. Pelley's multiple murder convictions were unanimously upheld by the Indiana Supreme Court Thursday.

The shot gun slayings occurred in Lakeville and date back to April of 1989.

At the time, Jeff Pelley was in high school.

At trial, prosecutors alleged that Pelley killed his father, step-mother and two young step-sisters, so he could attend his prom and after prom activities.

The court decision dealt with several issues raised by Pelley's attorneys. But, the justices determined that Pelley's right to a speedy trail was not violated and that the evidence was sufficient to support his convictions.

"This decision by the Indiana Supreme Court is a final decision,
The only other possibility might be if there were some federal issues and no federal issues have been raised in this case," explains St. Joe County Prosecutor Michael Dvorak. "So my best opinion of this is, this is finality for this decision, and importantly, finality for the surviving family members."

Pelley is serving a 160-year prison sentence.
