The Chicago NBC affiliate, WMAQ, has requested that Comcast drop WNDU from it's cable systems in Valparaiso and Portage Indiana. Those areas have been designated as part of the Chicago market by the FCC, therefore there is duplication of content on those cable systems with both channels being carried.
The letter from Comcast announcing the carriage change on these systems is linked above. Additionally, the response letter from John O'Brien, WNDU General Manager, is included in the link.
WNDU is requesting carriage on the Valparaiso system due to the Valparaiso community being located beyond WMAQ's 35-mile zone of non-duplication protection under FCC rules. WNDU is also urging the Portage system to carry WNDU's local news programming at a minimum.
