SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Folks in North Central Indiana can claim up to $28 million in unclaimed property.
Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller stopped by Ivy Tech Community College in South Bend Thursday to talk about the funds.
He encouraged people to visit IndianaUnclaimed.gov to see if they are eligible for any of this money.
Unclaimed property includes things like investment earnings, insurance proceeds, and benefits.
“There are lots and lots of ways this money can get into our account,” explained Zoeller, “but the most common way is that people just didn't know they existed.
The state holds all unclaimed property for 25 years.
Zoeller also recommends checking the site several times a year.
