Elkhart, Ind. It may not be Thanksgiving just yet, but folks in Elkhart are already getting in the Christmas spirit.
The gymnasium of the newly named Youth and Community Center has been transformed into a winter wonderland.
Professional designers donated their expertise to decorate 14 trees for a silent auction of more than 100 items Friday night.
The money raised gets split fifty-fifty between Premier Arts, the resident theatre at the Lerner, and the Youth and Community Center. And besides that, it's a way to lead folks into the holiday season.
“We wanted something that people could kind of wander through an have a total experience,” says Craig Gibson Artistic Director from Premier Arts. “It creates a visual as you walk through, once a gym now a gallery of trees creates a nice feeling and every time someone peaks in its just been "ohs" and "ahs" and " I can't believe this is a gym."
For the $5 entry starting at 10:30 Saturday morning there will be a special holiday play for children, dancing groups and a gift shop.
