A young man is behind bars after being accused of sparking a meth-related fire over the weekend that badly damaged an Elkhart home.

According to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, Treven Irvine, 21, was arrested last Sunday for dealing meth after he turned himself in saying that he “felt bad.”

The blaze broke out just after 7 p.m. on Saturday in the 1800 block of Fieldhouse Ave. Police and fire crews found flames coming from the home and evidence of two active meth labs inside.

No one was injured in the explosion, but roughly 80 percent of the house was damaged.

Irvine came forward the next day admitting both his role in the blaze and his history with meth-making.

He is currently being held in the Elkhart County Jail on $75,000 bond.

His initial hearing is set for Thursday morning.
