Worker falls into hole in a Mishawaka work site

Workers constructing a sewer line in Mishawaka had to call 911 after one of their crew members became unconscious.

Firefighters tell NewsCenter 16 the man either lost his balance or was struck by a piece of construction equipment before he fell into a 13-foot hole. When officials arrived they say the man was alert and talking.

Mishawaka Fire put a harness around the man for safety and rigged a safety line in order to pull him out of the hole. The man was able to walk up by himself with a firefighter behind him as a precautionary measure.

The worker was later taken to the hospital to be checked out.
