A murder investigation is underway in the tiny sleepy town of Long Beach, nestled along the shores of Lake Michigan.
Around 7:21 p.m. Tuesday, the LaPorte County 911 Center received a frantic phone call about a woman who'd been shot inside a home in the 2900 block Lothair Way. The residence backs onto the Long Beach Country Club.
When officers arrived at the home, they found a deceased female inside. Detectives say the shooting stemmed from a domestic abuse incident.
The seven-person police department, in the town of roughly 2,000 full-time residents, is remaining extremely tight-lipped about the homicide or the possibility of any arrests.
However, according to the Times of Northwest Indiana, the woman's husband has been taken into custody. LaPorte County Prosecutor Bob Szilagyi told the Times he will not release the husband's name until formal charges are filed.
