A woman has pleaded guilty for practicing illegal midwifery in Michiana.
Delores Jean Stanley made the guilty plea Wednesday in a LaGrange County court under a deal with prosecutors to dismiss other charges.
She faces up to 330 days behind bars for the crime.
Stanley tells our friends at the Goshen News that she is now a practicing midwife in Michigan and that helping women give birth is her calling and passion.
Indiana law was changed last year to broaden licensing for midwives.
They previously needed to be certified nurse-midwives.
Stanley will be sentenced this May.
