Dozens of people came out Friday to show their support for Winona Powder Coating's grand opening in Etna Green.
It’s a company that puts a final coating on metal parts with an epoxy or a polyester powder.
But, this company is no stranger to the area.
In fact, they have a facility about nine miles away in Mentone, but with the need to expand comes the need for a larger location.
“The building is relatively new, it was built in 1998. But, it was vacant for long enough that the city stepped up, they were able to do a tax abatement for us. The Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation did a $50,000 grant to help us do truck docks that weren’t presently at this building, so it has been an overwhelming amount of support from the local community,” explains Owner and CEO, Jamie Visker.
This new facility will have about 50 employees but with the expansion they will add another 25 over the next year.
“What we have is both just traditional manufacturing jobs as well as, there will be a number of technical openings manufacturing engineering people who understand coding processes, things along those lines,” adds Visker.
When big companies move in there is always worry about contamination, but some say there shouldn't be.
“There are very few fumes, the heat process they use is inner, it’s all in factory, so there is no concern about pollution or it getting lose or getting in the community,” says Kosciusko County Commissioner, Robert Conley.
Plus, Conley says they have a good reputation, “their history is a good history and that’s what we like to see”.
If you are interested in applying for a position, the owner says to stop by the location at 9876 West Old US 30, Etna Green, Indiana 46524.
He says to bring a resume if you have one.
