The arrest records have been sealed in the case of a New Carlisle woman who had a long court battle over the heat-related deaths of her two sons.
Jacqueline Wilk, 25, stood trial twice for child neglect in the 2011 deaths of her two and four year-old sons. They died after locking themselves in the trunk of a car in the driveway on a hot summer day.
Both trials resulted in a hung jury.
On Monday, the court granted Wilk’s petition to have her arrest records sealed.
Under a new state law enacted this July, arrest records can be sealed one year from the date of the arrest, or if an appeal is granted.
The records can now only be accessed by a law enforcement agency.
