Visit South Bend Mishawaka has announced the winner of their “What’s Your South Bend?” photo contest.

This photograph, submitted by Kelly Harrington of South Bend, captures the St. Joseph River as the photographer canoes along, passing under the walking bridge near the IU-South Bend campus.

"The St. Joseph River has allowed me to experience the landscape that is South Bend from a unique perspective," Harrington explains. "Our river has given me a sense of community and friendship, and awareness and enjoyment of the natural environment as well as personal connection to the city that it runs through. For me, the river is what makes South Bend home.

Harrington's photo will be included in the 2015 visitors guide in celebration of South Bend’s 150th birthday. She also won a $100 gift card to LaSalle Grill.

"We are so excited to name the winner of this contest," said Nicole Lawler, director of tourism marketing and development at Visit South Bend Mishawaka. "Many of the images submitted for the contest featured the river, so it is appropriate the winning image showcases that feature of our community so beautifully."

The annual visitors guide is distributed domestically and internationally, with 120,000 copies printed, and features information on area lodging, attractions, dining, shopping, and more.
