Warsaw alum Nic Moore has found his groove as the starting point guard for Southern Methodist University.

Moore graduated from Warsaw in 2011 where he finished his senior season as the runner-up for Indiana's Mr. Basketball. He led the Tigers to a state championship game as a junior and left the school second on their all time scoring list.

After spending his freshman season at Illinois State, where he started 29 of the teams 35 games, he transferred to SMU. He was forced to red shirt last season due to NCAA transfer rules, but now as a red shirt sophomore Nic has found his stride.

Moore has started in all 24 of the Mustang's games while leading the team in minutes, assists, total points, and points per game. After upsetting #7 Cincinnati, SMU found themselves ranked in the top 25 for the first time in over 25 years.

For Nic the jump from Warsaw Indiana to the starting guard of a top 25 program wasn't as big of a leap as some may think.

"I mean my town may be small but Indiana is one of the biggest basketball states, so being in that I have played in some pretty big crowds in high school," Nic said. "My high school held about 5,000 so Moody [Coliseum] is 2,000 more people, so I have been in this situation."

Now that the SMU program is back on the map Moore has no plans of slowing down.

"Hopefully we continue to get in bigger crowds than this and can continue to prove something to the fans and give them what they want."

Moore and the Mustangs look to improve to 20-5 Thursday night against Rutgers.
