Winona Lake native Nic Moore has to be happy with his decision to transfer from Illinois State to SMU two years ago.
Despite not playing in the "Big East", Moore has the Mustangs doing things they've not done in three decades.
Moore, the only player on the SMU roster to start all 23 games this season, led the Mustangs to an upset win over 7th ranked Cincinnati on Saturday.
Because of the win, SMU has moved into the top 25 for the first time in 29 years. The Ponies are ranked 23rd.
Moore led Warsaw High School to the 2011 state championship game before landing at Illinois State. When his coach left to be an assistant for Larry Brown at SMU, Moore joined him.
A point guard, Moore is averaging a team best 13.8 points per game and team high 4.7 assists per game.
He scored 14 points in the win over Cincinnati. Fans rushed the floor in Dallas, with Moore being hoisted in the air.
