A Warsaw man is dead after crashing his moped and being hit by a car Sunday night just west of Pierceton.

Police responded to the 5000 block of Pierceton Road, west of County Road 600 East Monday at 10:06 p.m. when they received a report of a moped crash.

When responders arrived, they found 23-year-old Brandon Hollon in the roadway. He had severe injuries after being struck by a passing motorist.

Investigators say Hollon was headed west on Pierceton Road when he lost control of his moped and crashed. A witness called 911 for help.

That's when a second car, driven by 23-year-old Lance Lucas of Mentone, swerved to avoid Hollon's moped, but ran over Hollon who was lying in the middle of the road.

The Kosciusko County Coroner says Hollon was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is still under investigation by the Kosciusko County F.A.C.T Team and the coroner's office.
