A Winona Lake man has been arrested following a high speed chase over the weekend.
23-year-old Jeremy J. Neibert was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment after firefighters freed his leg from a tree. His vehicle was located first, crashed into a tree, near County Road 600 in Warsaw.
Police began chasing Neibert around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, after they noticed his Chrysler 200, speeding, without headlights near Sunset Drive.
Because of snowy conditions, the officer lost track of the vehicle, that was fleeing police, and exceeding 100 m.p.h It wasn't until 4:30 a.m. police were able to finally locate the driver, stuck about eight feet up a tree, with his knee lodged.
After medical treatment, Neibert was transported and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on felony charges of resisting arrest with a vehicle, fleeing law enforcement, and criminal recklessness.
Charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated are pending the results of the blood draw. Three others from the vehicle were taken into custody at the scene and later released without charges.
Warsaw Police were assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Winona Lake Police Department, and the Leesburg/Plain Township Fire Department.
