Walkerton police to be equipped to fight drug overdose

Walkerton Some Michiana officers will soon have a new tool in their arsenal to save lives from drug overdoses.

The Walkerton Police Department has started a new drug intervention program. It means officers will be equipped with the counteractive drug Narcan to treat overdoses.

Each officer will get training on how to administer Narcan before the program goes live. The police department partnered with the Portage Fire Department to develop the program.
