South Bend, Ind. South Bend residents are making a difference in the fight against the debilitating and heartbreaking disease known as Alzheimer's.
Totals are still being finalized, but initial numbers indicate that more than $21,000 were raised at last Saturday's "Walk To End Alzheimer's."
More than 250 people took part in this year's walk at Howard Park, raising awareness and money to fund Alzheimer's care, support and research programs.
Participants included the Notre Dame hockey team, caretakers, and families of those suffering from the disease.
In Indiana alone, there are more than 12,000 people living with Alzheimer's.
