2013 is the 30th anniversary for the East Race Water Way. South Bend Parks and Recreation will celebrate with a day full of events in late July. Before then, they hope people will enjoy sports like rafting and kayaking and take the time to learn the history of the water way.

The East Race is a natural resource and is part of the St. Joseph River. 30 years ago, began it's use for recreational purposes. Before then, it was used as a resource for electricity and fishing.
