Volunteers work throughout the community in Bethel's "Summer of Service"
More than 400 volunteers are working to help the community this weekend.
It's part of Bethel College's "Summer of Service."
This morning a group of students were washing cars at Ritter’s on Main Street in Mishawaka.
The sign said "car wash- a dollar." Turns out drivers getting their cars washed, were being given a dollar. It certainly took people by surprise but it's part of the "Summer of Service" mission, to give back to the community with self-less acts.
There's also a group working on painting a mural on the side of the swimming pool by Merrifield Park. These are just a couple of projects that 26 teams are working on this weekend.
“It makes me really excited,” says Bethel student, Stephanie Kingma. “It’s awesome just to be out here serving my lord, that makes me smile.”
There are 26 teams around the area working on various projects this weekend.
Volunteers are rotated around to the different sites and will work through Sunday.
Some of them are staying on campus as part of a three night camp.
