South Bend and Mishawaka finally have a visitor center.
But this one is on wheels.
The new mobile visitor center debuted this week.
The goal is to bring all that South Bend and Mishawaka have to offer to the visitors who are gathering at events around the city, whether it be football games or 5K runs.
The RV was made in Elkhart and wrapped by a company in Mishawaka.
The whole thing cost $75,000 and was paid for by the hotel-motel tax in the South Bend and Mishawaka area.
“Other communities have visitor kiosks on wheels,” Rob Decleen, Visit South Bend Mishawaka executive director, explained. “With our needs, we have the ability to tap into the RV capital of the country and get what we needed locally produced.”
And if you are planning to be on campus this weekend, stop by.
On Friday, the mobile visitor center will be in the Joyce lot, just south of the stadium.
