Vigil held Thursday for double murder victims

Family, friends and community members gathered Thursday night to remember two teenagers killed in a South Bend double murder just two weeks ago.

It happened inside a home in the 1100 block of Adams Street on January 25.

The parents of Jazmin Conlee, 19 took their daughter off life support this week.

Her boyfriend, Alejandro Tinoco, 19, died from a gunshot wound to the head, less than 24-hours after the incident.

Eariler Thursday evening, a prayer vigil was held for Conlee and Tinoco outside the murder scene.

Haley Smith, Celia Tillman, Shannon Donlon, Friends of Jazmin Conlee, describe how shocked they still are of the deaths, “Jazmin was a really good friend of mine, she didn't deserve this, Alex didn't deserve this either. They were good people. She fought really hard, but she's not suffering anymore. She's up there with God and I’m happy for her.”

As the community continues to cope, the Prosecutor's Office is now expected to up the charges against the couple's alleged killers, Jermon Gavin, 21, and Charles Moore, 26.
