Vigil to remember Elkhart Co. homicide victim

Family and friends gathered Sunday night to remember an Elkhart County man whose body was found in a barrel earlier this week.

Mark Miller, 44, was reported missing two weeks ago. His body was found Thursday, stuffed inside a barrel in the Saint Joseph River, near the six-span Bridge in Elkhart County.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department ruled Miller's death a homicide.

A candlelight vigil was be held at the site where Miller's body was found at 7 p.m.

It was an emotional night for family and friends, who came together to remember the tattoo artist just feet from where his body was found.

Miller's mother Sheila said she gave police information that she received about what might have happened to Mark, but feels that they did not take her seriously because her son had a criminal record.

Miller was the father of five children. His death has been ruled a homicide, but police have not made any arrests.

Family and friends are holding a motorcycle ride in his honor at noon on Saturday at Hoosier Harley Davidson in Elkhart.
