The House Veterans Affairs Committee will subpoena Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki after accusations that some veterans died waiting for medical care.
The committee made that decision in a voice vote Thursday morning.
For Shinseki, the subpoena will include emails that allegedly talk about a so-called 'secret waiting list'.
In an effort to improve their performance, administrators at a Phoenix VA hospital buried the veterans' medical appointments in that list. Then as investigators closed in, they allegedly ordered the file destroyed.
Despite calls for his resignation, Shinseki has said he won't step down and has promised a full investigation.
