Grabbing a hotdog from a street vendor in St. Joseph could become a difficult task in coming months.

According to reporting partners at the Herald Palladium, city commissioners are considering an ordinance to limit the number of vendors allowed on private property downtown to one vendor per lot.

The proposed ordinance would also expand the definition of vendors and separate them into subcategories.

The committee members who wrote the proposal say it's unfair to businesses who pay to operate all year long when vendors can come in for quick cash in the hot tourism seasons.

Vendors would still be allowed in public areas like the bluff though, but this change is only a proposal. Nothing is final.
