The thirteen dogs taken in by Heartland Small Animal Rescue after their traumatic experiences at an Ohio puppy mill have received an outpouring of local support.
The shelter says applications have poured in from viewers around the area who wish to adopt one of the little ones after learning about their story on the news. In the past 24-hours, Heartland Animal Rescue says they received 40 applications.
Volunteers at the shelter have spent the last day grooming the dogs, getting them checked out by a local veterinarian, and making sure their vaccinations are up to date.
They hope that all 13 will be adopted within the next week and a half so that they will be able to bring in a new batch of dogs from the puppy mill to find loving homes for.
