United Way offers free help with income tax returns

St. Joseph County, Ind. On Friday, the IRS will begin accepting income tax returns for processing, and that means the countdown begins.

You have about two and a half months to file before the April 15th deadline.

If you need help, there are resources out there, including the United Way's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, or VITA.

For more information about VITA in your county, just call 2-1-1 or you can click here for details in St. Joseph County.

Meantime, First Source Bank and Key Bank are sponsoring Super Refund Saturdays on Feb. 1 and 8 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. They will have free one-on-one confidential help in filing tax returns for those with low to moderate incomes, and help families understand the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
