ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The United Way of St. Joseph County said thanks Tuesday to those who lend a helping hand.
The organization held its first Volunteer Recognition Luncheon to honor 127 volunteers.
This luncheon's theme was "Paving the Road to Reduce Poverty.”
The organization's hope is to cut the amount of poverty by 25,000 families by the year 2025, and it needs the help of the whole community.
“Don't ever underestimate the power of one person that might listen to another person or might help us at a food pantry or with filling taxes out,” said Karen Sommers, Community Investment vice president. “It makes a huge difference, every little bit helps.”
