Two people were sent to a Fort Wayne burn unit after a meth lab explosion in Kosciusko County Saturday.

County police say Saturday around 6:15 a.m. they got a call about a fire in North Webster.

When they arrived on scene police found several meth labs and the aftermath of an explosion.

They found three blasting caps and called in the South Bend Bomb Squad to remove them.

The two people taken to the burn unit were 37-year-old Venessa Newman and 45-year-old Brad Niles.

Police had to hunt down Niles, who had fled the scene, before taking him to the hospital.

Police also arrested the owner of the home, 54-year-old Richard Barefoot. He was not hurt in the explosion.

Barefoot could face federal charges because of the explosives in the home.
