Two suspects nabbed for robbing a Berrien Springs gas station at gunpoint, now also stand accused of stealing weapons in Niles.
Michigan State Police arrested Derek Bishop, 33, and Anthony White, 30, both of South Bend, for breaking into the Farr and Sons’ Sporting Goods Store, located just half-a-mile north of the Jerry Tyler Memorial Airport.
Investigators say they forced open the front door of the business early last Saturday morning and took an undisclosed number of firearms.
The pair was taken into custody during a traffic stop Wednesday, when an officer saw a stolen handgun inside their vehicle tying them to the crime.
They face a slew of charges for both the gun shop break-in, and the hold-up at the BP on M-139 Tuesday morning.
They're being held in the Berrien County Jail, as investigators continue to try to recover the rest of the stolen guns.
Anyone with information should contact the Michigan State Police Niles Post, or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers.
