Two sites in South Bend on National Register List of Historic Places

South Bend, Ind. Two sites in South Bend have been noted for their significance in history.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg was informed last week of the special designations awarded to the old Marquette School on College Avenue, and West LaSalle Avenue, near Martin Luther King Drive.

Letters from the DNR were released Monday show the sites are now listed on the national register of historic places.

Marquette was awarded historic status by the local historic preservation commission back in 2011. Official certificates will be given out at the 2014 State Fair.
