LaGrange County Police are thanking the public for helping them track down a pair of thieves who stole money from a gas station, that was helping those battling a debilitating disease.
Monica Babin, 42, and Garrison Beitz, 27, were arrested Thursday, charged with felony theft and booked into the LaGrange County Jail.
Less than 24 hours before they were caught, the Sheriff's Department posted this surveillance photo on their Facebook page of the alleged crime.
It happened Tuesday afternoon at the South Milford Landing, in the 7500 block of State Road 3.
Police say Babin and Beitz walked into the store and "obviously worked together" to steal a muscular dystrophy donation can off the counter.
The Facebook post reached more than 30,000 people in just over four hours, and was shared more than 600 times.
Police say it was the nearly 20 tips they received that helped them identify the suspects so quickly.
In addition to this theft charge, Beitz also had four outstanding arrest warrants out of three different surrounding counties.
