Mom and young daughter killed in U.S. 31 wreck, second child hospitalized

An Argos mother and her 10-year-old daughter were killed in Fulton County automobile accident.

The Fulton County Sheriff's Department says around 6:10 p.m. Friday, Leesa Sexton, 46, was driving southbound on U.S. 31, south of 375 N. For reasons unknown, her 2003 Ford Focus veered off the west side of the roadway and a patch of grass. The compact car then re-entered the paved portion of the roadway before flipping multiple times.

Members of the Rochester Fire Department contacted the Fulton County coroner who pronounced Leesa and Katelin Sexton, 10, dead at the scene.

Paramedics transported Sarah Sexton, 10, to Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester. Because her injuries were so severe, Sarah was later transferred to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. A family member tells NewsCenter 16, Sarah has since been released from the hospital with a small cut near her right temple.

NewsCenter 16's Gabby Gonzalez is heading to Fulton County and will bring you an update on NewsCenter 16 at 6 p.m.
