Two Major League Baseball players got back to their roots Saturday, all while helping in the fight against cancer.
Over at Bethel College, Pitchers Justin Masterson of the Cleveland Indians and Eric Stults of the San Diego Padres led a baseball clinic. The players both attended Bethel College.
The event was all part of the Stand-up to Cancer Day on the Mishawaka Campus. The pros gave fans the inside scoop on life in the MLB and even helped kids work on their pitching.
“You know it is always nice to give back, especially to the small kids,” explains San Diego Pitcher Eric Stults. “You know the knowledge we have gotten just from playing.”
“You have some kids, some local flavor looking up at us and think I can do this,” says Cleveland Indians Pitcher Justin Masterson. “When I was a kid this is what I wanted to do, and now for them as a kid they can think I can do this if I get up there.”
Fans got the chance to hang out and take photos with the pros after the clinic.
