Two 14-year-old girls were rescued Sunday after drifting out on a raft in Lake Michigan near New Buffalo.
It happened around 12:15 p.m.
Police say they were dispatched to Camp Sokol on Marquette Drive when the girls could not get back to shore.
They were reportedly sunbathing on a raft and fell asleep, leaving the girls about 300 yards from shore.
The girls had a cell phone and called their parents who then called 911.
The New Buffalo Township Fire Department and Chikaming Township Fire Department water rescue team were dispatched.
The U.S. Coast Guard also sent a boat from the Michigan City station.
A private fishing boat spotted the girls and stayed with them until the water rescue boat arrived. They were brought back to shore unharmed.
