St. Joseph County’s largest wind turbine to date is up and fully operational.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s water and environmental program made the turbine possible by providing the funds to build it, with the goal of maintaining monthly sewer rates for residents at $60 per month.
The turbine was installed at Wyatt’s Clean Water Plant, and stands at 140 feet tall. It is capable of generating 50 kilowatts of power.
