"We did it," Stephon Tuitt said as he walked off the field at Yankee Stadium last Saturday after Notre Dame defeated Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl.
As it turned out, It was the final time the Irish star defensive end would walk off a field as a Notre Dame football player.
Tuitt announced Sunday night that he will not return to Notre Dame for his senior season, but instead will enter the NFL Draft. It was first reported by Sports Illustrated.
"Thanks for a wonderful three years at the best University on earth," Tuitt wrote on twitter. "I will forever be IRISH.”
Tuitt compiled 21.5 sacks in three seasons at Notre Dame.
He received a 2nd round grade for the NFL Draft by the NFL Advisory Committee but most expect that he will be a 1st round pick.
