The trial of the grandmother of the 10-year-old South Bend boy killed by his abusive father is underway.
In November of last year, in the basement of her South Bend home, Tramelle Sturgis was beaten to death by his father.
Charges allege that the child's grandmother, Dellia Castile, knew about the beatings but did nothing to protect the children.
She faces three counts of neglect of a dependent.
Jury selection continued Tuesday. Opening statements are expected to begin Thursday.
