SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A trial date has been set for a man accused in a South Bend stabbing.
Jerry Winfield, 64, appeared before a judge this morning.
He's charged with aggravated battery, a class B felony.
William Johnson was found lying on the ground with stab wounds by an off-duty police officer on Jefferson near the LaSalle Park homes on June 13.
Prosecutors say Winfield stabbed Johnson during an argument over money Johnson owed him.
Winfield is in the St. Joe County Jail on $100,000 bond.
His trial is expected to start October 5.
