Trees down and power out after storms pound Michiana (PHOTOS)

South Bend, Ind. More than 50,000 Indiana-Michigan Power and NIPSCO customers in our viewing area are without power as of 6:00 p.m. Tuesday after severe storms rolled through Michiana.

According to both companies, they are still assessing the situation and do not have an estimated time of power restoration.

Police and emergency crews have surveyed the damage and spent the day cleaning up where trees have fallen.
