South Bend, Ind. There are still a few days left if you want to get a deal on your Transpo bus pass. The South Bend Public Transportation Corporation or Transpo has been participating in its Second Annual Dump the Pump Pass Sale since the beginning of June.
During that time they have been giving special deals on their bus passes but that sale is almost over. You have until National Dump the Pump Day, Thursday, June 19, to purchase a pass.
Individuals will receive one free two-ride pass for each two-week pass purchased and two free two-ride passes for each 31-day and Summer Travel Pass purchased.
Purchase a two-week pass ($18); receive one free two-ride pass
Purchase a 31-day pass ($35); receive two free two-ride passes
Purchase a Summer Travel Pass ($30)*, receive two free two-ride passes
Dump the Pump Day encourages people to dump the pump by leaving their cars at home and riding public transit instead.
Now, if you do get a pass and are traveling from St. Joseph County to Elkhart County, there are some changes you need to be aware of.
Starting Monday, Transpo’s route #9 Northside Mishawaka, which connects with the Interurban Trolley’s Yellow Line Bittersweet, will be relocated.
The connection point was previously located in the shopping center on Bittersweet Road between Lincolnway East and Vistula Road. The new connection point is located outside the shopping center on Bittersweet Road.
If you aren’t looking for a bus pass but instead a job, Transpo is offering those as well. Transpo is hosting a job fair on Saturday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 12p.m.
Transpo is looking for part-time Fixed Route Operators with a Class B Commercial Driver's License and part-time Access Operators with a Public Passenger Chauffer's License.
All job fair attendees are asked to bring a copy of their current Motor Vehicle Report which may be obtained from the BMV's website.
The job fair is located at the Transpo Administration Office at 1401 S. Lafayette Blvd, South Bend.
