Man injured after vehicle collides with train in South Bend

South Bend, Ind. A driver was hit by a train Sunday night in South Bend.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. near Country Club Road, just east of the South Bend Country Club.

The driver was heading north, and the train traveling west, when the driver reportedly went around the gate.

After the car was struck, the man got out of the car and walked home.

He was found there a short time later.

The man had a few cuts to his head and hands but was not seriously hurt.

Police suspect the driver was drinking.
