A routine traffic stop led to a police chase Saturday night in Dowagiac.
At around 8:40 p.m., Dowagiac police tried to pull over someone for speeding on East Prairie Street. The 20-year-old driver took off and eventually tried to make a right turn. The car was going too fast, slid off the road and struck the front of a house in the 700 block of Prairie before leading police on a foot chase.
The house was empty at the time of the crash and only had minor damage.
The driver was taken to Cass County Jail. No name has been released yet.
