We now know that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two Plymouth teenagers one week ago Thursday.
Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger confirmed Thursday morning that toxicology results came back negative for both 16 year-old Cody Poczik and 16 year-old Hunter Brandt.
The teens were driving down 12th Road just east of Olive Trail last Thursday night, when their car hit a guard rail and flipped. They died instantly.
Poczik, who was driving the car, had just gotten his license days before the crash occurred. Both he and Brandt would have been juniors at Plymouth High School come the fall.
The accident still remains under investigation, but Cleavenger says this eliminates one element and hopes that the negative results put any speculation to rest.
