The small community of Three Oaks will pay their respects to a lifelong resident and decorated veteran who was murdered overseas in last month.
Master Sgt. Michael Brown, 55, was killed in a rural area of El Salvador on Feb. 16, 2013. Few details have been released about why Brown was killed or who is responsible, but police say he was shot at least five times in the head and shoulders
Brown served in the U.S. Army Special Forces for 30 years. His friends and fellow Three Oaks residents say he was well-liked, and an active member in the American Legion Post 204 and the Lions Club.
Funeral arrangements for Brown have been made for this upcoming weekend. Visitation is scheduled for Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and then again on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Pobocik Funeral Home located in the 100 block of East Ash St.
Celebration of life services will be held after Sunday’s visitation at 2:00 p.m. Brown will be buried with military honors at Lakeside Cemetery following Sunday’s services.
