"Think Pink with Paqui" Golf Outing held at the Morris Park Country Club Wednesday

Area women were "Thinking Pink" as they hit the green on Wednesday, as they used their swings to help fight breast cancer.

The Kelly Cares Foundation hosted its Second Annual "Think Pink with Paqui" Golf Outing at Morris Park Country Club in South Bend.

The event featured hole-in-one and marshmallow driving contests for the ladies only.

But anyone was invited to attend the lunch and medical panel that followed, which was moderated by our own Tricia Sloma.

Local doctors spoke about early detection and awareness of breast cancer, a disease that's personally affected the Kelly family.

“As a breast cancer survivor twice and I'm really celebrating my 5th year here on my second cancer,” said Paqui Kelly the Co-Founder of the Kelly Cares Foundation. “I'm just making sure that we are still talking about it and it's an everyday conversation so that people are just aware of how important it is to be proactive in their health.”

All of the proceeds from Wednesday's event benefit the Kelly Cares Foundation, which develops programs that promote awareness and research of the disease.
